Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, my family at Our Lady of Peace…
In September 2019, Our Lady of Peace will celebrate her 75th anniversary as a parish. I am proud to say that I have been part of this wonderful history of OLP. These past four years have been a great and wonderful blessing for me in my priesthood and I cannot thank you enough for welcoming me into your parish, into your spiritual home, allowing me to be a part of this great jewel of North Hills and accepting me as your “father.” It has been wonderful serving you as pastor and I hope that the seeds of faith, of communion and unity, of love for the Eucharist, and encouragement and support of our youth with grow and bear great fruit in our parish. We all have a mission that is part of God’s plan and he reveals a piece of it throughout our journey. These four years together have been part of that plan and the memories, the friendships, the spirit of faith, the love of family, the laughter and even the tears I will take with me wherever God leads me.
I would like to thank Fr. William, Fr. Ken, and Fr. Peter (+) whom I served with and built up our fraternity in the rectory. Thanks to my brother deacons and their wives for always supporting me in my call to serve. Thanks to our pastoral team for coming together as one, for all the meals and laughter shared, the stories and memories, for giving of yourselves to our parish community and making my job easier. Thank you to all of our ministers and volunteers for having that servant’s heart in sharing your time, talent and treasure with others. To our young people, thank you for being open to God’s presence and I encourage you to listen to His voice and follow Him as we all continue to discern our vocation. And finally to all of our beloved parishioners, thank you for the love, support and prayers that you have given me. You will always have a special place in my heart and life that can never be replaced. I love you a lot and will miss you.
I would also like to welcome Fr. Nahum Gutierrez and Fr. Alberto Cuevas to Our Lady of Peace. I know that you will show these wonderful priests the warm hospitality and love that you gave to me and Fr. William.
We are always close in prayer. We are always united in the Eucharist. Christ always leads us forward. It is never easy to say good-bye, so instead, I will say, “until we meet again – Fiesta 2018!! and School Gala 2019!!! if not sooner.” God bless always!
Our Lady of Peace… pray for us.
